ZONELEADER ACUPUNCTURE & CHINESE MEDICINE CLINIC
What Is a Chinese Medicine Consultation?
A Chinese medicine consultation takes an individualised approach to understanding your health and wellbeing, based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Rather than focusing only on a single symptom, TCM considers the broader picture of your health. Your practitioner may consider your physical wellbeing, emotions, lifestyle, sleep, digestion, energy and other relevant aspects of your health when developing an individualised understanding of your needs.
TCM uses its own framework for understanding health, including concepts such as Qi, Blood, Yin and Yang, and the Zang-Fu organ system. A TCM consultation may be provided on its own or as part of a broader Chinese medicine treatment plan.
What Happens During a Chinese Medicine Consultation?
Your consultation begins with a conversation about your health and what you would like support with.
Your practitioner may assess different aspects of your health through:
Pulse assessment — feeling the pulse at both wrists as part of the traditional TCM assessment.
Tongue observation — observing the colour, shape, coating and other features of the tongue as part of the traditional TCM assessment.
Health and lifestyle questions — including sleep, digestion, energy, emotional wellbeing and other relevant aspects of your daily life.
Menstrual health — where relevant, including cycle patterns and changes.
Physical symptoms — such as pain, tension, body temperature, sweating and other concerns.
Palpation — gently examining selected areas of the body where appropriate.
These traditional assessment methods are considered alongside your health history and current concerns to develop an individualised understanding of your health from a TCM perspective.
What Can a Chinese Medicine Consultation
Help You Explore?
People seek a Chinese medicine consultation for many different reasons. Depending on your individual circumstances, a consultation may provide an opportunity to explore:
Physical health and wellbeing
Pain and muscular tension
Sleep and energy
Digestive health
Women’s health and menstrual concerns
Stress and emotional wellbeing
Lifestyle and daily habits
General wellbeing
A consultation does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment. If you have a health condition or are receiving medical care, your existing healthcare should continue as advised by your GP or other healthcare professionals.
Recommendations Following Your Consultation
Depending on your individual needs, your practitioner may discuss different approaches to care, which may include:
Acupuncture
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Cupping Therapy
Moxibustion
Tui Na Massage
Dietary Guidance based on TCM dietary principles
Lifestyle and wellbeing considerations
Mind-Body Coaching
Any recommendations will be discussed with you based on your individual circumstances and health goals.
Dietary Guidance
TCM dietary principles may also form part of your consultation. Your practitioner may discuss food choices, eating patterns and everyday dietary habits in relation to your individual needs, digestion, lifestyle and overall wellbeing. The focus is on practical guidance that can be incorporated into everyday life rather than a one-size-fits-all dietary approach.

What is Mind-Body
Coaching?
Mind-body coaching is a personal development approach that explores the relationship between thoughts, emotions, physical experiences, behaviour and lifestyle. It provides a supportive space to develop greater self-awareness, reflect on patterns and consider practical ways to support your wellbeing and personal goals. This may include exploring practical and achievable lifestyle changes and setting realistic goals that support your health and wellbeing.
Mind-body coaching is not psychological therapy or medical treatment. It focuses on self-awareness, personal development and practical strategies that may support positive lifestyle changes and contribute to overall wellbeing.
What Can Mind-Body Coaching Explore?
Depending on your individual needs and preferences, mind-body coaching may explore areas such as:
Stress awareness and self-care
Mind-body awareness and self-regulation
Emotional wellbeing and resilience
Living with ongoing pain
Lifestyle and healthy habits
Coaching Approaches
Depending on your needs and preferences, mind-body coaching may incorporate approaches such as:
Mindfulness and self-awareness
Mind-body awareness
Grounding and breathing techniques
Guided reflection and journaling
Practical stress-management strategies
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques, where appropriate
Integrating Chinese Medicine and Mind-Body Coaching
At Zoneleader Acupuncture, Chinese medicine and mind-body coaching come together to offer a more integrated approach to physical and emotional wellbeing. Chinese medicine provides a traditional framework for understanding your physical health, while mind-body coaching creates space to explore the connections between thoughts, emotions, physical experiences, behaviour and lifestyle.
With our background in Chinese medicine and clinical experience, we take time to look beyond an individual symptom and consider the broader picture of your wellbeing. For example, when you are living with ongoing pain, stress or fatigue, we may explore not only what you are experiencing physically, but also how sleep, emotions, daily habits, stress and patterns of behaviour may be influencing your everyday experience.
The focus is on developing greater awareness of your own mind-body patterns and exploring practical ways to support your wellbeing. Chinese medicine and mind-body coaching are different approaches, and coaching does not replace medical or psychological treatment
A Personalised Approach
